Established in 2016, Matthews and Carter Associates specialises in placing common law qualified lawyers into leading UK and US firms in London. We also place Australian qualified lawyers with top-tier firms in the United States.

 

We have extensive experience placing lawyers from the UK and a variety of jurisdictions into leading National, Silver Circle, Magic Circle and US firms maintaining close working relationships with some of the largest and most dynamic firms in the City and beyond.

We guide candidates through the whole process of moving firms from the initial conversation to advising and critiquing your CV. We guide you through individual interview stages and endeavour to secure you the best package possible. We also guide you through the process of resigning and preparing to start life at your new firm or even new country.

LONDON: Restructuring/Insolvency 2-5PQE (4-7 yrs exp. Australia/New Zealand) **TOP-TIER US FIRM**​

 

A great opportunity for a mid-level associate to join this market leading restructuring/insolvency team in the City paying top New York rates.

 

Best known for their high profile and high value restructuring and insolvencies, this team works with creditors and debtors on primarily non-contentious matters. Due to the nature of the firm, associates benefit from high levels of responsibility at all levels and work closely with partners and clients.

 

The ideal candidate will be at least two years qualified (4 years experience in Australia/New Zealand) and be working in a well-regarded restructuring/insolvency team of a top-tier UK, international or US firm.

 

LONDON: Structured Finance 2-5PQE (4-7yrs exp. Australia/New Zealand) **MAGIC CIRCLE**

 

A great opportunity has arisen for a mid-level structured finance associate to join the well regarded team of this top-tier Magic Circle firm in London.

 

The team work on a broad range of structured finance matters however they are particularly known for their CLO and

securitisation expertise. You will have a varied diet of work and benefit from working with multiple partners, all of whom are leaders in their fields. Due to the nature of the team, much of your work will involve cross-border matters working closely with the firm’s international offices (especially the New York office).

 

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of post-qualified experience (at least 4 years of experience in Australia or New Zealand) with a top-tier structured finance team however if you come from a general finance practice and are interested in specialising in structured finance, you are also encouraged to apply.

LONDON: Competition 3-5PQE (5-7yrs exp. Australia/New Zealand) **TOP-TIER US FIRM**

 

Great opportunity for a mid-level associate to join this well-regarded and growing competition team as part of a top-tier firm in London.

 

The role will be very broad in nature and associates will work across: Merger control, abuse of dominance and investigations matters. Due to the nature of the firm, associates benefit from ultra-high levels of responsibility. The firm pay top-tier US rates of £200k+.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of post-qualified experience (at least five years of experience in Australia/New Zealand) working within a well-regarded competition team of a leading firm in London or a well-regarded practice in Australia or New Zealand.

HOW DATA IS COLLECTED

 

§ We collect data from candidates directly whether this be over the phone, in person or via e-mail/LinkedIn.

WHAT IS COLLECTED

 

§ We will collect certain information such as: Salary, notice, visa details in order to assist a candidate with their search and satisfy terms and conditions we have in place with our clients

§ Candidates may then wish to send a CV which is stored on a secure database for the duration of the job search or for as long as needed (set out below).

§ In certain cases, clients will request copies of academic transcripts or visa certificated which are stored in the same way as a CV.

WHY DATA IS COLLECTED

 

§ Data is collected in order to provide a candidate with the appropriate information about job vacancies and assist in finding a suitable position.

WHO IS THIS DATA SHARED WITH

 

§ No data is shared with clients or anyone outside the company without the candidate’s prior permission.

§ Once the candidate has provided permission, information such as a CV, Academic Transcripts, Visa Certificates etc. is shared with the client.

§ We use certain ‘cloud providers’ to provide us with technical solutions. Where this occurs, we require all such third parties to respect the security of your data and to treat it in accordance with the law ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place.

HOW LONG IS THIS DATA KEPT FOR

 

§ We only keep a candidate’s information for as long as necessary i.e a candidate has completed their job search. However some information will be stored for longer if it is needed for accounting purposes.
